GiantMinds Scoop LSC Award! |
|
The GiantMinds team were all smartly dressed for the glamorous Celebration of Learning and Skills (CoLaS) at the Sage Gateshead on Friday night. The awards are one of the most prestigious in the North East and around 1000 people turned up in recognition of the North East’s passion for learning and skills development.
GiantMinds won a hand made trophy (which weighs a tonne!) and a cheque for £750 in recognition of 'A Grand Idea', a collaboration with Changemakers, which has seen close to £65,000 awarded to groups of young people to set up social enterprises in their local areas.
The 'Oscars' style event was packed with live entertainment and hosted by the lovely Kirsty Gallagher. Giant Minds came up against some stiff opposition with over 300 entries being submitted in total.
The 'Working in the Community' award sponsor was FE+ a collaboration between colleges in the Tees Valley. David Wilshaw, Chair of FE+ said; "this event gives FE+ the opportunity to support individuals and/or employers working in partnership for the good of their communities to promote inclusivity and to celebrate their achievements and contributions."
